Icon take on Snowdon for Mustard Tree

SPONSORED WALK TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE MUSTARD TREE CHARITY

TAKING PLACE IN SNOWDON  ON SUNDAY 19 JUNE 2011

Below is a quick note from Martyn Maund of Icon who you’ll have heard mentioned a fair few times here.  Martyn and Icon have been doing an absolutely incredible job this year supporting the Mustard Tree through fundraising, events and raising awareness.  We are hugely grateful and will be thinking of them this weekend as they scale the heights and no doubt gain a few blisters.  If you’d like to encourage them in their endeavours read the text below and donate if you can.  Thank you and thank you Martyn and co.

“This Sunday, 19th June 2011, a team of half a dozen intrepid people are attempting the Welsh 3000s Challenge, which involves scaling all 16 of the peaks in Snowdonia above 3000 feet, covering 30 miles and ascending more than 8000 feet in total within the space of 24 hours. There will be 5 chaps and one lady walker ( to keep the men in order ! )   Dean “ Rock Star “ Copley has organised the event and is leading it, ably supported by his wife “ Justine “ Legs “ Copley.  What a pair!

The walkers will camp at the summit of Snowdon on Saturday night, 18 June 2011, and then set off at 4am on Sunday morning, in the hope of completing the walk in time for a couple of beers on Sunday night.

If you would like to know more about the charity google it and prepare to be impressed.   The web site has fotos of the walkers training for you to view.

I know that there seems to be a request for charitable donations almost every week but if you feel you can help, the link to the group’s Justgiving page is below.

If like me you are IT challenged I would be happy to receive cheques or even wagon loads of gold bullion delivered to 82 King Street!   All the costs involved in this major league event such as food, transport and accommodation are being met by the walkers, so all donations will go directly to the charity”
