Give the gift of opportunity this Christmas

We have been bowled over by the amazing generosity of everyone across Greater Manchester. We have had such an influx of warm coats, clothing and food, with more in-coming through December.

This means we have reached our goal for the Christmas period and all we can say is a massive thank you to show how grateful we are! These donations will go a long way in providing support for those experiencing poverty and homelessness in Greater Manchester.

If you would like to collect items that will be useful for the people at Mustard Tree who are experiencing poverty or homelessness this December, we are still on the hunt for items to help us put on our annual Christmas Meal and to create a respite area for our Freedom Volunteers and those who use Soup Run on Friday nights to feel more welcome and relaxed:

·         Cutlery

·         Glasses

·         Crockery

·         Board Games

·         Books

·         Music/story cd’s

·         Christmas Decorations

·         Christmas Crackers

·         We could always use new men’s underwear as well

If you want to make the biggest difference this Christmas for people who are experiencing homelessness or poverty, the most useful donation is always a financial contribution. We know it feels more tangible for some people to give physical things, but a gift of money means that Mustard Tree can respond to the need of whoever walks through our doors. It means we are not restricted by whatever is in the storeroom that day, but more importantly could help fund the support someone needs to escape poverty and homelessness for good this Christmas.

So…because it’s Christmas, here’s our wish list…

£10        How would you find work if you didn’t have access to a computer? Your support could pay for a Job Skills session, to help someone who has been out of work for years to learn how to put together a CV, find local vacancies and learn interview skills.

£20        Did you know many rough sleepers suffer with trench foot? A financial donation of £20 could buy a decent pair of boots that fits! It means we aren’t hoping that we can find a size 12 or 4 in our storeroom.

£50         It’s difficult to think about the future if your past is hard to escape. You could pay for someone to speak to a counsellor, and start their journey towards a brighter future.

Mustard Tree is a place of welcome for those who often don’t feel welcome anywhere else. It is a safe environment for people to receive support that focuses on dignity and choice. We believe everyone should have the right to create their own meaningful opportunity. We believe everyone should be empowered in their choices to make progression for themselves.
