“A very emotional night for everyone and a huge success. The young people from the Princes trust were such fantastic hosts after working so hard for their 12 week project with us” – Anoushka Gordon, Creative Programs Coordinator Mustard Tree
A room full of excited young people and families, Mustard Tree staff and representatives from the Manchester Fire Service. That was the scene at the Princes Trust graduation evening event last Thursday to celebrate the young people’s achievements. It was an honour to host their graduation as the first event in our new space and the first outing for our stage!
Partnering with The Princes Trust on this project meant hosting the group of young people for 12 weeks while they completed their up-cycling textiles pieces, buying the resources and budgeting. Read more about their work and how its added to our refurbished building here. The values of The Princes Trust for young people marry up very closely with our own, meaning our organisations can easily work collaboratively together to reach more people with opportunities. Here at Mustard Tree, partnership is one of our key values framing how we work with businesses, people and organisations across Greater Manchester and beyond. Reaching out to others means we can share and pool our knowledge for the good of progress in our communities – for people of all backgrounds to get a hand up.
We enjoyed speeches from each Princes Trust participant, from our Fire Service partners and presentations of awards to each young person on the project to recognise their tremendous progress. Their willingness to work together so well as a team and embrace learning new things was brilliant to see.
Thankyou so much to everyone that was involved in the project, volunteering and graduation evening event to make it all such a success. It was all in all an incredibly emotional night and a great testimony to the city. We can’t wait to work with you in the future and to see what you go on to achieve.
