ESOL Support Assistants help with the facilitation and delivery of ESOL lessons for Freedom Project volunteers and other Mustard Tree participants/guests, enabling them to acquire new knowledge and gain new skills, and achieve their learning goals, within a supportive, community, learning environment.
What you’ll be doing: Role Description
- Working under the guidance and supervision of the session Tutor, and Training Coordinator/Services Manager
- Supporting the Teaching and Learning for Freedom Project Volunteer Participants and other Mustard Tree participants/guests as they develop their knowledge and learn new skills in a specific subject – i.e ESOL
- Helping to support the learning for groups of people with mixed abilities. This may involve some 1-1 support/mentoring, or small group work
- Helping to support Mustard Tree staff to engage the Freedom Project Volunteer participants, and Mustard Tree guests, in any appropriate, learning-related, activities that enhances classroom-based teaching and learning
- Assisting with administrative tasks, e.g. signing-in, completion of registers, ILP’s, reviews, and also maintenance of equipment and provision of resources, including photocopying, etc
- Liaising with the session Tutor and Training Coordinator
- Helping to keep the classroom/learning area tidy, clean and organised
- Helping to identify where volunteers/participants may benefit from other, additional support and feed this back to the Tutor/Freedom Project Staff
General Volunteering Duties
- Work within health & safety guidelines and Mustard Tree policies and procedures
- Embody Mustard values and represent the charity as required
- Support Freedom Project volunteers and guests to feel part of the community

Commitment
We require volunteers who are able to commit to Tuesday mornings weekly.
