Creative Showcase at Nexus Cafe

Creative Showcase at Nexus Cafe

For the whole of August our volunteer from Little Hulton Mark James and friend of volunteer Jessica Maher exhibited their latest works.

Marks work consisted of 9 fine line pencil drawings of abstract natural forms. From the 14th Marcus Murrell from our Little Hulton art class and 12 participants from the Ancoats art class exhibited their latest work.

The exhibition came to a close on the 31st with a fantastic evening showcase of all the creative programmes across both sites.

Creative writing performed spoken word performances from Summer Wright, Esther and our Friend of volunteer Alan O’Gorman read out Luke’s poems.

Drama group did a performance based around a games show of luck with snakes and ladders how any one can find them selves in unfortunate circumstances that may lead to becoming homeless.

Music showcased their latest tracks from the studio with a highly entertaining performance from John Richardson, performing  his latest blues song with sunglasses!

We had short films from Simon of Stretch charity of the volunteers sharing their life experiences and journeys through the Mustard Tree. Watch them here https://vimeo.com/stretchcharity

‘The evening was great fun and good atmosphere, and then those films were really emotional and really made you think’, Matt Reid- drama group.

Song club opened the show with a live performance of ‘Budapest’ and closed with ‘I love rock and roll’ shaking tambourines and getting the audience participation.

There was a great turn out, with the whole of nexus filled with friends family and the general public to support the wonderful volunteers and participants of our creative programmes.
