Mustard Tree’s Round-Up 24.06.22

As you’re reading this, we’re over at the Trafford Centre with 15 plucky participants (with a further 20 tomorrow) taking part in a charity abseil to raise funds for Mustard Tree. We’ll update you on how it went in our next Round-Up…

We’ve also surpassed our hundredth donation through our abseil JustGiving page – thanks so much to everyone who contributed!

GMCVO Communities in Control

As part of the Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO) Communities in Control week, we are offering a tour of our Ancoats hub to showcase our refurbished Community Shop, Food Club and other areas of the charity.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who supports or partners with Mustard Tree, but has yet to come and see us in person since the Covid-19 pandemic. You may be looking to find out more about what we do, having contributed to a friend or family member’s fundraiser.

Arrival time for the tour is 1pm with a 3pm latest finish. For more information and to register, please click the above button, or email information@mustardtree.org.uk / call 0161 228 7331 with any queries.

Refugee Week 2022

What better time to celebrate our Diversity value than Refugee Week – which is running between the 20th – 26th June. Standing up for this cause is more important than ever, and we wanted to share one particular story from Ahmed, which encapsulates our welcome approach.

I gained communications skills, specifically with British people. I worked in retail and learned timekeeping skills and how to act in a formal environment – Ahmed.

To protect identity, we’ve changed Ahmed’s name and used a stock photo.

We Do Code X Mustard Tree

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been collaborating with software developers We Do Code to deliver structured digital skills training to our Freedom trainees and clients – here’s a little more about how the project worked:

Our new rolling course started this week – if you know anyone who may benefit from these sessions, please drop us an email to information@mustardtree.org.uk and we’ll see how we can help.

Can you help us combat poverty and prevent homelessness?

If you enjoy reading our newsletter and want to support our work, the best way you can do this is by joining the Real 10k and setting up a regular gift to help keep our services running. We have an aim to recruit 10,000 donors – each giving £5 a month – to help secure our charity for years to come – and create lasting change across Manchester and Salford.
